First Swim of the Season On May 1, 2008, RESCU students took part in an incredible activity; swimming the La Jolla Cove. This was the first of 5 monthly Cove swims scheduled for the summer. Students left the school, dressed in their wetsuits and flipflops, eating bagels and chattering about shark attacks and various other scenarios. Upon arrival at the Cove, everyone was full of excitement, nerves, and anticipation. As the parents stayed nervously on the shore, every student jumped into the water and began to swim. Some swam a half mile, some swam one mile, and others swam two miles; all the way to La Jolla Shores and back to the Cove. Each of the students worked hard and spent a tremendous amount of energy. There were smiles on everyone’s faces as the students trudged out of the water, freezing cold, but happy and proud of their accomplishment.
Thank you to all of the parents who participated in the Cove swim. By either bringing food, kayaking, swimming, or staying on the shore, you were all an incredible help to the RESCU students. Without your support, this event would not have been so successful. Everyone is excited and training for the next swim. RESCU students will continue to be challenged by moving up a level in their swim. They can’t wait to hit the water again in June11th! Click on the photos below for full size images: |
